Southports Costa del Sol - the Old Links is a 9-hole links course largely underestimated, both for the quality of its golf challenge and for the beauty of its setting. So far it has resisted the blandishment of becoming an 18-hole course in less pleasant surroundings and possibly losing thereby the conviviality of a relatively small membership.
It has recently invested in new fairways and a renovated clubhouse which, hopefully, will not destroy its previous marvelous clubhouse atmosphere.
Bold placements of alternative trees, for the second time round the 9-hole course, create a genuine feeling of playing an 18-hole course without detracting from the psychological challenge of learning from the first-time round and scoring better.
